Senior Vice President, Video Services and New Business Development
Steven Bing serves as the Senior Vice President of Video Services and New Business Development for the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) in Herndon, Virginia.
Bing joined NRTC in July 2005 and is responsible for NRTC’s DIRECTV and Internet protocol television (IPTV) business operations.
In recent years, Bing has been a partner in a $40 million venture fund that has assisted start-up companies in a wide range of industries. From 1984 to 1991, he served in a number of positions, including president, for ICH Corp., a publicly traded holding company that owned life and health insurance companies, including Bankers Life and Casualty in Chicago and Southwestern Life in Dallas. From 1972 -1984 he served as vice president in charge of public affairs for the University of Louisville, where earlier he earned a law degree. He also has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Louisville.
Bing’s involvement with NRTC dates to the beginning of the DIRECTV business when he was a partner with Direct Programming Services (DPS), an NRTC affiliate that worked with electric cooperatives throughout rural Kentucky to distribute DIRECTV service. In the mid 1990s, Bing also served as an advisor to NRTC’s board of directors.
Bing is a graduate of the University of Louisville and received his law degree and bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Kentucky.
